Startling the future…..
I have said and have written before that one of the things I like most about my job is the interesting people I get to meet. I’m pretty sure that I startled Shea who works for the company responsible for cleaning our studios when he showed up around 1:00 O’clock this morning to find the lights off and me working away in my studio office. As most of you know I don’t need to have the lights on when I work. Shea explained to me that his cleaning job was one of 2 that he has, saying he’d be pouring concrete this morning at 7:00 O’clock. I thanked Shea for working, something I’ll admit I probably wouldn’t have done in the past.Maybe my perception is incorrect but it seems that the number of people willing to work 1 or 2 jobs these days is exceeded by the number of folks who aren’t willing to work. As many of us near the ends of our working careers, many worry that there won’t be people who are willing to pick up the slack and do the jobs we do in the future. The fact that there are still people like Shea out there, gives me a healthy and needed dose of hope. That’s the way I see it.
