One of the complaints that you often hear from folks around here is that there’s nothing to do other than work. It might be the number 2 complaint particularly from younger folks, right behind the nasty weather that we get each winter.
While we don’t have the number of activities our relatives in bigger communities can enjoy,, the list of activities that have been canceled because of the Polar Vortex this week is pretty impressive.
Many of the canceled happenings are sponsored by 2 of the entities that are most important to us, our churches and our schools.
The list of closed businesses and schools and canceled activities on our website is a lengthy one and our Rick Burgei takes great pride in keeping it up to date through out weather events like this weeks cold-snap.
When I am asked why we don’t announce cancelations and related announcements on the air these days, my answer is simple.
if we did we might have time to play 2 or 3 songs an hour and no more than that and that would be pretty boring for those who don’t have an interest in what’s not going to be going on.
You will hear updated weather information quite often but to summarize for the next 2 days the weather won’t be fit for man or beast out there so if you can, stay inside
and enjoy the classic hits we play.
That’s the way I see it.
