I don’t know Leonard Miller but I’d love to get to meet him. Leonard is the 88-year old Korean War veteran from the Akron area that I reported on this morning after he stepped in to rescue a neighbor who was being attacked by her own family’s pit bull over the weekend. Miller used a plastic nut cracker Christmas decoration to beat the dog until it let go of the 10-year old girl and if that wasn’t enough, he tended to her injuries until emergency personnel arrived on the scene. I’m sure to Miller doing what he did was nothing compared to the time he spent serving our country almost 70 years ago, but he’s being called a hero and that’s certainly deserved. Sometimes the people who most deserve our respect and admiration live right next door. That’s the way I see it.
