At first glance, this story which crossed my desk today may seem odd at best.
But I think it points out how much we take the thought of a long life for granted.
And also how sometimes it’s not the big things that we may do, but the small things we do that can bring the biggest smiles.
Here’s that story.
(Newark, OH) — A dying teenager is crossing another item off her bucket list, thanks to Newark police department. Sixteen-year-old Alyssa Elkins wants to travel, like many kids with terminal leukemia, but she also wanted to use a Taser. The police department invited Alyssa this past weekend to shoot one of their officers with the stun gun to help one of her dreams come true.
So hats off to the Newark police department to honor this somewhat unusual request.
But maybe more specifically, the individual officer who took one for the team.
That’s the way I see it.
