As I begin my blog today I have to say that I have never been sprayed with tear gas, and I may live in a bubble but I can’t think of anyone I know who’s ever been sprayed with it.But if I were sprayed with tear gas I think catching a virus would be the least of my concerns. A thousand U.s. scientists have written an open letter to our country’s police departments asking that they refrain from using tear gas to break up crowds during nationwide protests. Lead by Doctor Peter Chin Hong, a professor of medicine and infectious diseases at UC San Francisco, They warn that tear gas makes the people who are sprayed with it cough and scream, potentially causing Coronavirus droplets to get in to the air. They say people sprayed with tear gas may also take off masks their wearing and rub their eyes noses and mouths. Who knew! Getting sprayed with tear gas may be bad for your health. I guess that’s our important health tip of the day. That’s the way I see it.
