As increasing numbers of us roll up our sleeves to get vaccinated against the Coronavirus, some may have wondered what the vaccines are costing the federal government which is picking up the tab as part of President Trump’s 2,020 Operation Warp Speed initiative Our government shelled out 9 billion dollars for companies to develop test and distribute vaccines and Pfizer , , Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are continuing to manufacture millions of shots for distribution. Published information indicates Pfizer is charging $19.50 for each of it’s 2 required shots. Moderna is charging about $32.00 for each of it’s 2 shots. Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine cost is estimated at $10.00. These sound like small prices to pay if it turns out that it is mass vaccinations that will allow us to return to life like normal and bring an end to the Coronavirus pandemic which has plagued us for a year. I do wonder why our federal government can’t use similar muscle and money to work to bring down the cost of extremely expensive drugs used to treat Cancer and other serious diseases which will continue to effect us after the pandemic is over, That’s the way I see it.
