Word from researchers involved in a newly completed study that the level of stress we Americans face now makes it imperative that we get more sleep, just means I’ve fallen even shorter in what the health experts think I need.
A report released yesterday indicated that we now need a full half hour more of sleep than we needed just a decade ago, and that getting anything less than 8.5 hours per night isn’t enough to recharge our batteries appropriately.
In order for me to get that much sleep, I’d have to hit the rack prior to the 6 O’clock evening news, and long before my beloved Indians start playing each night.
If I were to get that much sleep during a night prior to work, I’d lose my excuse for yawning in public or dosing off during a staff meeting.
Maybe I don’t need as much sleep as the average American, because my dreams don’t come with pictures.
That’s the way I see it.
