A story I read this morning has me wondering what some Columbus Ohio area thieves are thinking- or are not thinking. Columbus police are investigating a recent rash of thefts of air bags from vehicles on the capital city’s north side. I’ve heard enough horror stories from mechanics about how dangerous the igniters on air bags can be, and have talked to enough people who’ve had them go off during crashes to know that stealing an air bag is not only gutsy, it’s real stupid. I have no idea what you can sell a used air bag for, but I’m sure there’s someone out there who would buy it. I wonder what would happen if the people who risk serious injury or death stealing things like air bags or the copper from working electric power lines would turn their attention toward some sort of gainful employment. But I guess that would be just too boring. That’s the way I see it.
