There are vaccinations available to us to protect from everything from measles and the mumps to shingles and the flu. I think it might be time for some medical expert somewhere to come up with one to combat what seems to be a growing ailment. That’s Social Media Stupidity. Among the latest Americans who might have benefited from such a shot is veteran Major League Baseball umpire Rob Drake. He’s currently on an apology tour of sorts to express his sorrow over tweeting earlier this week that he was going to buy an A R 15 because “if you impeach my president this way, you will have another civil war”. His apology may be the result of genuine sorrow or the fact that his bosses in MLB have launched an investigation that I suppose could result in a punishment ranging from a verbal tongue-lashing to some sort of suspension. I’m mystified why a man who’s very well-paid for overseeing adult men playing a kids game would think that anyone would care what he thinks. Drake hasn’t asked for my advice, but if he did I would suggest he stick to his duties of calling players safe or out, and making those grunting noises umpires make behind the plate when they’re calling balls and strikes. That’s the way I see it.
