WDOH FUN 107.1 celebrates it’s 48th. Birthday
There won’t be any cake or candles and a party is out of the question because of the Coronavirus, but we’re celebrating a birthday today on fun 1071. WDOH radio first hit the airwaves 48 years ago today. Donna Fargo’s song Funny Face was the first to play, in the 7:00P.M. hour on that Friday night December 15, 1,972. Through several music format changes and under several ownerships things have changed a lot in the way we do what we do. A turn table, reel-to-reel tapes and machines that used cartridge tapes that looked a lot like 8-tracks have long since been replaced with computers and technology we couldn’t have dreamed of back then, but the focus of everything we do at WDOh remains the same as it’s always been, to provide you with local news and information from local people you know, to give you coverage of sporting events involving our area’s high school athletes, and to assist non profit organizations who work to make life better by giving them a voice to help them to do what they do. We have you our listeners and our many sponsors to thank for allowing that service tradition to continue for nearly 5 decades. Radio stations with such a local focus like WDOH are very rare these days, but our mission of being a trusted local voice for the communities we serve won’t be changing. That’s the way I see it.
