The increasing amount of time we’re all spending on our smart phone devices is well documented but there’s a particular kind of smart phone app that’s changing the way many of us spend time outside. It’s the Weather App. Everyone seems to have one of them, some more than that. Listening for thunder or watching for lightning won’t do any more. Increasingly we rely on a weather app to tell us how many minutes it will be until we get wet. I’ve not seen any documentation but it seems to me that like many of the weather forecasts and predictions we hear, the weather apps are wrong at least as often as they are right. If you are outside and you forgot your phone you won’t have to worry. Someone close to you will have one with a weather app on it so they can tell you how much time you have to grab an umbrella. That’s the way I see it.
