You’ve heard it said I’m sure that being a grandparent is one of the coolest things you ever get to undertake.
Well, I’m not sure that that’s always the case, but something I got to experience yesterday was one of the best I can remember for a number of years.
Our 4 year old grandson Evan was excited as an adult might be at winning the lottery when he was able to master the intricacies of riding a 2-wheel bike with training wheels for the first time yesterday afternoon.
I didn’t get to see him doing figure eights, and riding in circles around his grandma and me, or to navigate up the hill in to the drive-way at his home.
But I could certainly hear the glee in his voice, and feel the excitement he felt at accomplishing something he thought was impossible just days ago.
There’ll be few things in adult life that will come with such a sense of accomplishment, and I’m glad I was around to experience it.
That’s the way I see it.
