President Biden’s covid 19 vaccination mandates issued last week sparked a lot of conversation on the weekend network talk shows as we would have expected. The president does have his supporters among federal health regulators for is demands that all federal government employees get vaccinated and that employees of companies in the U.s. with more than 100 workers get vaccinated or provide weekly proof of coronavirus testing. There is considerable opposition to them as well. Ohio governor Mike Dewine is in a group of mostly Republican governors who say the mandates won’t work and are an over-reach of the president’s authority. There will be numerous legal challenges of the constitutionality of the mandates too. Interestingly, the Biden vaccination mandates do not effect members of Congress. They are paid by Uncle Sam but they are governed exclusively by rules they make. Will the president’s mandates survive legal challenges, and will they result in a significant increase in vaccination numbers, only time will tell. That’s the way I see it.
